The work brings together two very different phenomena, giving birth and performing on a stage, an unknown place arises, a kind of uncomfortable grey zone.
In the work SPLIT ANIMAL, Lombard asked women in labour to think about how they remembered they sounded and then collected sounds from staged birth situations.
The sound material was composed into a sound collage in collaboration with sound artist Francesco Torelli.
